Spain Travel Guide

Welcome to the

Official Spain Guide

When many people think of Spain, things like beautiful Mediterranean beaches, sipping sangria under the sun and dining on a giant plate of paella come to mind. Once known more for its beaches, tourists are discovering what the Spanish have always known; this is a land where culture, history, nightlife and food all combine like no other place on earth.  It is often joked among expatriates (former citizens of another country) that it is dangerous to enter Spain without a return plane ticket -- an extra week turns into an extra month and suddenly you're applying for Spanish citizenship! You will see varieties of scenery that you've likely never seen before --  many tourists that thought they had a big enough memory card for their camera, end up purchasing another, halfway through the vacation.  It is money well spent.

Spain's borders are rather simple to understand; France is to the north, Portugal is to the west and the rest is thousands of miles of incredible beaches.

The snow-capped Pyrenees separate Spain from France (and the rest of the European continent), providing fantastic skiing and breathtaking views, winter or summer.

To the north, Galicia's winding rivers and deep, green forests offer a climate that provides Spaniards a respite from the long, hot summers.

The Moorish-influenced southern region of Andalucía is known for its Flamenco dancers, myths like Don Juan and Carmen as well as the famous "white villages" -- whitewashed houses to deal with the 3,000 hours of sun this area receives.

Old is not lost, as new mixes in with Spanish culture.  Museums, cathedrals, castles and ruins from the Roman times all accommodate "la marcha" -- the fantastic nightlife that is found in all areas of Spain, most notably Barcelona and Madrid.

Barcelona, situated on the Mediterranean coast, is Spain's most cosmopolitan city. It has always proved its will to be modern, in step with the latest international trends.  Especially interesting is its architecture, which reflects the general quality of life in this pulsating city.

Whether you love beaches, architecture, history, religion, a relaxing time or a night on the town, Spain offer more choices than you can conqueror, so why not try a bit of all of them?
